In some cases, people won’t experience pain for up to 24 hours after the accident! This occurs because of our body’s “fight-or-flight” response. Adrenaline and endorphins are released into the bloodstream temporarily dampening and masking pain signals. As these horomones fades away, inflammation (or pain) gradually develops, highlighting tissue damage and/or spinal injuries. That is why it is important to get checked out as soon as possible.
